Spring Ladybird Nails | 100th design!

Spring Ladybird Nails!

Rating: *****

This is our 100th design on this blog! Thank you to those of you who have stuck around since the beginning and those of you who have only just discovered us - enjoy! Here's to another 100 designs...

Finished Nails
Tools

I used:
  • Collection 2000 5 Fire Engine Red
  • Collection 2000 103 French White
  • Color Show 749 Electric Yellow
  • Miss Beauty 355 Neon Green
  • Kiko 041 Brown
  • Barry M Blackjack
  • Essence 01 Absolute Pure
  • Masking tape
  • Small dotting tool
  • Small paintbrush

Step 1

Stick the tape over most your nail and paint the tip red. Remove the tape immediately to stop it pulling the varnish off.

Step 2

Using a small dotting tool, or a cocktail stick, paint white dots on the red section of your nail.

Step 3

Using the paintbrush, paint 4 teardrops all pointing towards the centre of the flower, slightly offset to one side of your nail.

Step 4

Using the dotting tool add a yellow dot in the centre of the petals.

Step 5

I didn't have the right shade of green so I mixed together some of the lime green and the brown on a palette until I had the right shade. Then, using the paintbrush, create a swipe and two teardrops. You may need to do two or more coats to get it thick enough.

Step 6

Using the paintbrush, draw a semicircle above the flower on your ring fingers.

Step 7

Add tiny dots to the semicircle.

Step 8

Using the paintbrush, add a black dot to the same side as the leaves. Then add two curls going up, for the antennae. Also, add a top coat to smooth it out and give it a nice shine.

Step 4

Add a touch of darker pink at the centre of each petal.

Step 5

Make a pale yellow by mixing a small amount of yellow with white. Dot it around tha base of the petals.

Spring Flower nails!

Spring Flower Nails!

Happy Easter everyone! It's a little late but better late than never, right?

Finished Nails
Tools

Butterflies
I used:
  • Collection 2000 Nail Care Top Coat
  • Barry M 290 Spring Green
  • Maybelline 720 Green Miracle
  • Rimmel 60 Seconds 703 White Hot Love
  • Rimmel Lasting Colour 280 Sunshine
  • 20/0 Paintbrush
  • Dotting tool (not pictured)
  • 2 Butterflies
  • Tweezers (not pictured)

Step 1

Paint your nails with the clear top coat.

Step 2

Use the paintbrush to paint the lighter green across the tips of all your nails. Start at the tip and flick the brush up towards the cuticle to get the pointy grass look.

Step 3

Use the paintbrush to paint the darker green over the light green. Don't do too much, you just want it to add depth.

Step 4

Paint the flower petals onto the nails. For each one, start at the centre of the flower and draw the brush outwards. If you can, you may want to practice this before you do it on your nails.

Step 5

Add the centres of the flowers using the yellow and a small dotting tool.

Step 6

Add the butterflies to your thumbs. You could put them on your ring fingers if you wanted but I thought it looked a bit crowded. To do this, paint a small amount of clear nail varnish where you want the butterfly. Pick out a butterfly and place it on the nail. Position it using the tweezers and hold it down (bending it to the shape of the nail) until it no longer slides around.

Step 7

Paint over the design with the top coat and clean up around it. Make sure to put a little extra over the butterfly, just to make sure it doesn't come off too easily as it does stick up a bit.

Flower nails!

Flower Nails!
A perfect design for Remembrance Sunday

Rating: **

Finished nails
Tools
I used:
  • 'Collection 2000 103 French White'
  • 'Rimmel Lasting Finish 030 Double Decker Red'
  • 'Collection 2000 Nail Care Top Coat'
  • Salon Express Stamper
  • Nail Varnish remover
  • Tissue

Step 1

Paint the nails white.

Step 2

Paint the nails red.

Step 3

Use the stamper to put the flower design onto each nail. You will need to clean the stamper with the nail varnish remover and tissue between each nail. The stamper is quite tricky to use so do some practices beforehand and don't expect it to be perfect the first time around.

Finally, cover the nails in the top coat and clean up around them with nail varnish remover.

Spring Flower Nails!

Spring Flower Nails!

Rating: *

Finished nails
Tools
I used:
  • '17 Heartbeat'
  • 'Rimmel Lasting Finish 280 Sunshine'
  • 'Collection 2000 103 French White'
  • 'The Colour Workshop Purple Glaze'
  • 'Rimmel Lasting Finish 030 Double Decker Red'
  • 'Barry M 54 Clear'
  • A small dotting tool

Step 1

Paint the nails using a pastel shade. I used pale blue but any pastel/pale colour would work just as well. Don't worry if it is messy, you can clean it up at the end either with a cotton bud and nail varnish remover or you can peel it off!

Step 2

Use the dotting tool to place yellow dots on your nails for the centers of the flowers. I did three on each nail (except the thumbs where I did 4) but you can do as many or as little as you would like, although too many would become crowded and ruin the effect. Make sure you leave enough space around them for the petals, unless you are doing loads and want them to overlap.

Step 3

Use the dotting tool to place 5 white dots around one of the yellow dots on each finger, to make the flowers. If you don't want to use the same colours as me then start with the palest colour as, if the petals end up overlapping, the paler colour will struggle to be seen over the darker ones.

Step 4

Use the dotting tool to place 5 pale pink dots around one of the yellow dots on each finger, to make the flowers. Again, if you aren't using the same colours as me, this should be your middle shade.

Step 5

Use the dotting tool to place 5 red dots around one of the yellow dots on each finger, to make the flowers. Again, if you aren't using the same colours as me, this should be your darkest colour.

Step 6

Paint over each nail with the top coat to seal in the design.

Finally, clean up around the nails to make them look neat.
