Matte Egyptian Nails!

Matte Egyptian Nails!

Rating: ***

Finished Nails
Tools

I used:
  • Barry M 417 Blue Grape
  • Barry M Matte Top Coat
  • Barry M 245
  • H&M Glitter Gold
  • Essence 01 Absolute Pure
  • Small paintbrush
  • Circular silver gems

Step 1

Paint your nails blue. Add a normal top coat to stop the colour rubbing off.

Step 2

Paint your nails with the matte top coat to turn them matte. Alternatively, you could just use a matte blue nail varnish.

Step 3

Stick tape across most of your nail, leaving a gap by your cuticle. Paint this bit with the gold and take the tape off immediately. Or you could hand paint as I did.

Step 4

Using a paintbrush, paint gold glitter over the gold strips.

Step 5

Use a small dab of clear nail varnish to stick on each gem in the middle of each gold strip.

Do not add a normal top coat over this design or the matte effect will be ruined.

Spring Ladybird Nails | 100th design!

Spring Ladybird Nails!

Rating: *****

This is our 100th design on this blog! Thank you to those of you who have stuck around since the beginning and those of you who have only just discovered us - enjoy! Here's to another 100 designs...

Finished Nails
Tools

I used:
  • Collection 2000 5 Fire Engine Red
  • Collection 2000 103 French White
  • Color Show 749 Electric Yellow
  • Miss Beauty 355 Neon Green
  • Kiko 041 Brown
  • Barry M Blackjack
  • Essence 01 Absolute Pure
  • Masking tape
  • Small dotting tool
  • Small paintbrush

Step 1

Stick the tape over most your nail and paint the tip red. Remove the tape immediately to stop it pulling the varnish off.

Step 2

Using a small dotting tool, or a cocktail stick, paint white dots on the red section of your nail.

Step 3

Using the paintbrush, paint 4 teardrops all pointing towards the centre of the flower, slightly offset to one side of your nail.

Step 4

Using the dotting tool add a yellow dot in the centre of the petals.

Step 5

I didn't have the right shade of green so I mixed together some of the lime green and the brown on a palette until I had the right shade. Then, using the paintbrush, create a swipe and two teardrops. You may need to do two or more coats to get it thick enough.

Step 6

Using the paintbrush, draw a semicircle above the flower on your ring fingers.

Step 7

Add tiny dots to the semicircle.

Step 8

Using the paintbrush, add a black dot to the same side as the leaves. Then add two curls going up, for the antennae. Also, add a top coat to smooth it out and give it a nice shine.
